Vinesh Phogat Case: Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya gave a statement in the Lok Sabha regarding the disqualification of Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat in the Paris Olympics. Mandaviya said that Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat had to be out of the Olympics due to being overweight in the prescribed category. PM Modi has spoken to PT Usha and asked her to take appropriate action. The Sports Minister said that the government has given all possible help to Vinesh Phogat.
Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya further said that Vinesh became the first female wrestler to reach the final by winning three matches on Tuesday. The Government of India provided all possible assistance to Vinesh Phogat. Personal staff was also appointed for her, who are experts in their field. Famous coaches and physios from Hungary are always with her.
She said that funding was also provided for her to attend training sessions in Spain and for preparation before the Olympics. When she went to Hungary, the government had made all the arrangements for that as well. The government had also helped her to participate in the international camp in Russia.
Let us tell you that Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat had to be out of the competition due to being 100 grams overweight in the prescribed category. For this competition, it was mandatory for her weight to remain up to 50 kg. Weight is weighed before every match. If a player does not participate in the weight measurement or is found to be overweight, he is eliminated from the competition. Vinesh Phogat’s weight was found to be 50 kg 100 grams. Therefore, she was disqualified.
