Former captain Anil Kumble believes that Yash Dayal, Vishak Vijaykumar and Ramandeep Singh should get a chance to make their international debut in the Indian T20 team’s South Africa tour, given their excellent records in domestic cricket.
The Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian team will face South Africa in a five-match T20 International series starting on Friday in Durban. Former legendary batsman VVS Laxman is the coach of this team. “I am hopeful that these three players will get a chance to play for the Indian team because they have performed really well at the domestic level,” Kumble told Geo Cinema.
Kumble praised fast bowler Yash Dayal, who was hit for five consecutive sixes by Rinku Singh during IPL 2023, for making a spectacular comeback. He said, “What a wonderful comeback Yash Dayal made on whom Rinku Singh had hit five sixes in a row. This shows his passion. He is a brilliant left-arm fast bowler who can move the ball both ways.
Kumble expressed surprise that Royal Challengers Bangalore did not retain Vijayakumar. He said, “Vijaykumar is a really very good fast bowler who has done well in domestic cricket. I was really surprised that RCB did not retain him. I hope he gets a chance in South Africa. He has all kinds of variations for the death overs.
Kumble said that if Ramandeep gets a place in the playing eleven then he should also be used as a bowler. He said, “Ramandeep is a good aggressive batsman and an excellent fielder. I hope he will be used as a bowler also because after the impact player rule in IPL, people have started ignoring all-rounders.
