New Delhi. Former head coach of Team India, Ravi Shastri is confident that Virat Kohli will be successful in showing his strength in Australia. Shastri said that Kohli has the ability to recover from poor form and he will be able to perform brilliantly in the Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. For this, Shastri has given Gurumantra to Kohli. Shastri says that if Kohli starts like this in Australia, then he will definitely be successful in playing big innings. In the last few months, Kohli is going through a bad phase in all formats. The 36-year-old star batsman has scored only one half-century in five Test matches against Bangladesh and New Zealand since the beginning of the year, while his average has been only 21.33.
But Shastri warned Australia and said that Kohli will play in the country where he loves batting and scoring runs. Shastri said in ‘ICC Review’, ‘Kohli will now play where he performs very well. That’s all I’ll tell them. When you achieve this status after your exploits in Australia, it is always in the mind of your opponent when you come out to bat.
Kohli scored a century in Adelaide in 2011-12
Shastri was referring to Kohli’s brilliant performance in Australia in which he scored a fighting century in Adelaide on his first Test tour in 2011-12. During the 2014 tour, he scored 692 runs in four Test matches and this included a brilliant inning of 123 runs in Perth during the 2018-19 series. Then Kohli captained the team. Shastri, however, advised Kohli to be cautious during the initial phase of the tour.
‘If Virat did this then understand…’
The former Indian all-rounder said, ‘When you are in enthusiasm and you are excited which happens with Virat. So you should remain calm because sometimes you are very excited to come out on the field and make the first move. He said, “But I think that when he comes out to bat, it will be very important for him to remain calm for the first half an hour or the first three innings of the series. If he can remain calm and play at his own pace instead of rushing, then I think he will bat well.
