Less than seven hours after the app went live, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg told Threads Post I said that more than 10 million users have already signed up to use the app. This is because Instagram has more than 2.35 billion monthly users. If you have received a notification from the Instagram app that your friends have joined Threads, then here you will find all the important information related to this platform.
How to sign up for Threads on Instagram?
You can sign up for Threads by downloading the app from the Google Play Store or the App Store. Once you open the app, you’ll be asked to sign in using your Instagram account, after which your username and verification status will be stored, which means Meta is intending to keep Threads connected with Instagram.
If you don’t have the Instagram app installed, you’ll need to enter your username and password to proceed. You can then see a list of people you follow on Instagram and you can follow them in Threads as well. If you click the Follow button for a user who hasn’t created a profile, Threads will hold the follow request until the user joins Threads.
How to post on Threads and character limit
As you start following people on threads, you will notice the feed also showing posts from unknown users. Instagram head Adam Mosseri said these are recommended posts that will be shown by Instagram’s algorithm and will help you explore new accounts to follow on the platform. Meta is also working on adding a followers-only feed that will only show posts from users you follow.
According to Meta, you can post up to 500 characters on the app. This is much more than the default 280 characters available to users who are not subscribed to Twitter Blue. These can be cross-posted to your Instagram Story. According to the company, you can also add links, photos, and videos to your posts. The Threads feed shows photos in a carousel format.
Blocking across threads or controlling connections
Users and accounts you have blocked on Instagram will remain blocked on Threads. The app will also let you hide specific replies from users on your posts. The ability to hide replies can come in handy for users who face targeted trolling or harassment on the platform. Threads also lets you limit or completely disable replies and mentions from people you follow.
You can also filter certain words from appearing in your feed. Meta also says that Instagram’s Community Guidelines, which govern the photo and video sharing service, will apply to threads as well.
