Another sad news has come as a huge shock to the people of the entertainment industry. Famous Bharatanatyam artist Yamini Krishnamurthy died on August 3 at the age of 84. Krishnamurthy’s manager and secretary Ganesh has informed PTI Bhasha about this. Yamini Krishnamurthy’s fans and people from the industry are paying emotional tribute to her by sharing posts on social media. After receiving the news of her death, the Sangeet Natak Academy has also shared an emotional note along with a photo on its X account paying tribute to her.

Famous Bharatanatyam dancer Yamini Krishnamurthy was battling illness for a long time and today she finally said goodbye to the world forever. She died in Apollo Hospital due to age-related illnesses. Secretary Ganesh told PTI, ‘She was suffering from age-related problems and was undergoing treatment for the last seven months. She was shifted to ICU a few days ago due to severe pain.’ Krishnamurthy’s body will be brought to her institute ‘Yamini School of Dance’ on Sunday, August 4 at 9 am.

There is no information yet about the last rites of Yamini Krishnamurthy. Krishnamurthy has two sisters. The news of Yamini Krishnamurthy’s death has caused mourning in the industry. She was brought up in Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu. She had the honour of being the Asthana Nartaki (resident dancer) of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. She was also famous among the people as the torch bearer of the ‘Kuchipudi’ dance form.
