Crypto theft, Delhi woman robbed off Rs 3 crore in Bitcoins by her Friend on the pretext of Using Mobile for Navigation

In the last few years, the number of people trading in cryptocurrencies has increased rapidly. Along with this, the number of scams and frauds in this segment has also increased. In a similar case, a woman from the capital was cheated of Bitcoin worth about Rs 3 crore by her friend.

A media Report It is reported that in this case, the victim’s close friend, with the help of two of his associates, stole six bitcoins from the crypto wallet on his mobile phone. Police said that the accused used several tumblers to hide the trail of the stolen bitcoins. Tumblers are mostly used to mix identifiable cryptocurrencies with other cryptocurrencies. This makes it difficult to trace the source of the stolen cryptocurrency.

Police said that initial investigation revealed that the stolen bitcoins were transferred to six wallets. The incident took place on July 4, when the accused woman went to the airport with her friend. On the way to the airport, she took the victim’s mobile on the pretext of using the map for navigation. After this, the accused woman transferred six bitcoins from the victim’s crypto wallet to other wallets. After this, the accused converted these bitcoins into other cryptocurrencies and got cash from some of these cryptocurrencies. The victim woman in this case is a digital marketer. She lodged a complaint on July 4.

After this, the police arrested the accused on July 19. A large amount of cash, 2.32 bitcoins and 96,000 USDT have been seized from them. Recently, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had said that last year there has been a 53 percent increase in scams related to cryptocurrencies. Regulators in some countries have prepared to make rules for the crypto segment to deal with this problem. The FBI had said in a report that last year, frauds under the guise of investment in cryptocurrencies had increased to $ 3.94 billion. In the previous year, people had lost about $ 2.57 billion in these frauds.
