Delhi Police has arrested a person from Swaroop Nagar area of the national capital who was allegedly carrying 787 kg of ganja hidden in a truck. Officials gave this information on Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off, police stopped a truck with Uttar Pradesh registration number near Nangli Poona in Swaroop Nagar on Saturday, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Nidhin Valsan said. He told that the truck was being driven by a person named Mohammad Jabir, resident of Bareilly.
Valson said that after searching the vehicle, police recovered 787 kilograms of ganja. He said that during interrogation, Jabir revealed that on the instructions of a person named Sonu from Meerut, he had gone to Kalahandi district of Odisha and there a person named Raju had supplied him with ganja and sent him there.
“On reaching Delhi, he was asked to wait in Swaroop Nagar area, from where he was nabbed,” the DCP said. The officer said the accused had told that he would consume narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances before being released on bail. Has spent more than seven months in Andhra Pradesh jail in a case under the Prevention of Substances Act (NDPS).
