JCO martyred in encounter with terrorists in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir
Earlier on Sunday (November 10), a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Army Special Forces was martyred and at least three other personnel were injured in an encounter with terrorists in a remote forest area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district. .
According to reports, two to three Para Special Force personnel were injured during the initial encounter. The encounter in the Keshawan forests began when joint search parties of the Army and police caught the hiding terrorists around 11 am.

Surge in terrorist activities in Jammu region
According to security officials, there has been a surge in terrorist activities in the Jammu region and deadly attacks in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch. After terror attacks in Rajouri and Poonch in the last three years, terror activities this year spread to six other districts in the region. In 2024, 44 people, including 18 security personnel and 13 terrorists, were killed in the Jammu region.
According to official data, Doda, Kathua and Reasi districts recorded nine murders each this year, followed by Kishtwar (five), Udhampur (four), Jammu and Rajouri (three each) and Poonch (two).
Officials said the dead included 18 security personnel and 13 terrorists. He said that of the 14 civilians killed by the terrorists, seven were pilgrims returning from the Shiv Khori temple, while three were Village Defense Guards (VGDs).
