According to NASA, the Sun is the largest body in our solar system. But the barycenter is different. According to NASA, even though the Sun’s enormous mass pulls the Earth into its orbit, according to Newton’s law of universal gravitation, this attraction is two-way. The Earth also exerts a gravitational force on the Sun in its own way.
The pull of Earth’s gravity is minuscule compared to the pull of the Sun’s gravity, but it is enough to change the position of the barycenter. The barycenter is usually close to the Sun’s center, but planets such as Saturn and Jupiter can occasionally pull it out of the Sun’s orbit.
NASA has also talked about Kepler’s third law, which describes the relationship between the masses of two objects revolving around each other. According to NASA, imagine for a moment that a small star is revolving around a larger star. In fact, they revolve around a common center of mass, called the barycenter.
According to NASA, the Sun has the most mass in our solar system. Because of this, the barycenter is usually very close to the center of the Sun. But it is not necessary that it is inside the center of the Sun.
The barycenter can be brought out of the Sun’s range due to the impact of giant planets like Jupiter and Saturn. The report says that at present the barycenter is outside the Sun and hence the Earth’s orbit is not around the Sun, but around a point in space.
