NEET-UG 2024 News-The Supreme Court is going to hear petitions related to alleged paper leaks and irregularities in the National Eligibility Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2024 today.
A day before this, the central government gave a new affidavit in the court, strongly opposing the demand for re-examination. The government also claimed that the IIT-Madras report refutes the allegations of malpractice leveled by the candidates at some select examination centers. Let us tell you that the Supreme Court is hearing more than 40 petitions related to this matter.
In the last hearing in the NEET-UG 2024 case, a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud heard several petitions and listed the matter for July 11.
The NEET-UG exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) provides admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other related courses in government and private institutions across the country. The NEET-UG 2024 exam held on May 5 was mired in controversy over paper leak and granting of grace marks to some students.
There is no doubt that sanctity was compromised: Supreme Court
Terming the alleged irregularities during the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2024, held on May 5 for admission to undergraduate medical and other courses, as an “admitted fact” and “compromising the sanctity of the examination”, the Supreme Court on Monday said that once the magnitude of it (publicisation of question paper) is determined, it can be decided whether the relevant exam needs to be held again or not.
After hearing the arguments of the concerned parties in detail, the bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra said that there is no doubt that the sanctity of this examination was compromised. To prevent this from happening in future, a decision should be taken only after deliberating on every aspect.
The bench asked the Central Government and the National Testing Agency (NTA) to provide information about the extent of the NEET UG exam question paper leak by July 10. Apart from this, the time between the question paper being made public and the examination being conducted on May 5, 2024 should also be informed by the prescribed date.
The three-member bench of the apex court made it clear that if it is not possible to differentiate between the beneficiaries of the NEET exam fraud (paper leak) and the innocent candidates, then the exam should be conducted again.
