How to Close PayTM FASTag Permanently via Call App: Here's 2 Easy Methods to Follow

PayTM Fastag News: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has asked Paytm Payments Bank to shut down its operations. Earlier, an order was issued that all its services would be shut down after February 29, including opening a new account, depositing money, buying a new FASTag and many other operations.

However, now this deadline has been extended to March 15. RBI says that after March 15, deposit or credit transactions or top-ups will not be allowed in any customer account, prepaid device, wallet, FASTag, National Common Mobility Card, etc.

Now, in such a situation, if a person’s FASTag has been issued by Paytm Payments Bank (PPBL), what should he do? Let us tell you that according to RBI guidelines, FASTag issued by PPBL (PayTM FasTag) can be used till March 15, because users can use the balance present in the card till the stipulated time limit. But after this, users cannot top-up (recharge) their FASTag, which means that they will not be able to use it after the balance is exhausted.

How to deactivate Paytm FASTag permanently?

Method 1

To block PayTM FASTag through call, dial 1800-120-4210 and provide your registered mobile number and Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) or Tag ID.
A Paytm customer support agent will confirm the closure of your FASTag.
However, in some cases this doesn’t work, in which case you have another method where you have to use the Paytm app.

Method 2

First of all open Paytm app and tap on the profile icon in the top right corner.
Now tap on “Help & Support”.
Here, tap on “FASTag” under the “Banking Services & Payments” section.
Now tap on “Chat with us” and select the appropriate option to start the deactivation process

Keep in mind that as per the government guidelines, any user has to completely destroy the previous tag before installing a new FASTag in the vehicle. In such a case, Paytm will also ask you for a picture of the destroyed tag. Here you will have two options, either you can upload the picture at the same time or you can share the photo with Paytm later.

Apart from this, let us tell you that according to Paytm, your security deposit and balance will be refunded within about a week after the FASTag closure process begins.
