The Great Indian Kapil Show’s troubles are increasing, legal notice sent for insulting Rabindranath Tagore

The comedy show The Great Indian Kapil Show hosted by Kapil Sharma is once again in the headlines. The popular comedy program The Great Indian Kapil Show hosted by Kapil Sharma has come under legal scrutiny after a notice was received on November 1. He has reportedly insulted Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore in the show and also represented the Bengali community in a derogatory manner. This notice has been sent by Dr. Mandal, President of Bongo Bhashi Mahasabha Foundation (BBMF) through legal advisor Nripendra Krishna Roy. The complaint raises concerns about certain acts in the show, which, according to the BBMF, portray the Bengali community in a derogatory manner and allegedly tarnish the legacy of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.

This show has received notice on 1 November. It is alleged that the show has shown disrespect towards Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore and has portrayed the Bengali community in a derogatory manner. Dr. Mandal, President of Bongo Bhashi Mahasabha Foundation (BBMF) has sent the notice through legal advisor Nripendra Krishna Roy. The complaint highlights certain acts in the show which, according to the BBMF, portray the Bengali community in a derogatory manner and allegedly harm the reputation of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.

Does Kapil Sharma’s show insult cultural figures?
The notice alleges that certain acts in the show insult Tagore, a highly respected poet and cultural figure, and could potentially upset Bengalis globally. Expressing his disappointment, Dr. Mandal said that the representation of Bengali culture in the show has hurt cultural and religious sentiments. The makers of The Great Indian Kapil Show have responded that they never intended to misrepresent Tagore or hurt the sentiments of any community. He explained that the show is a comedy platform that uses fictional sketches and parodies for the purpose of entertainment, with the sole purpose of providing humor without maliciously targeting any individual or community. He emphasized that the show has always been known for its light-hearted comedy timing.

Salman Khan’s legal team distanced itself from the controversy
Amidst the situation, actor Salman Khan, who was earlier associated with the show through his production house, SKTV, has distanced himself from the controversy. Salman’s legal team issued a statement confirming that neither he nor his production house is associated with The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix. The statement clarified that SKTV has not been given any notice regarding the program and is unaffected by any legal issues facing the show.
 
As of now, the makers of The Great Indian Kapil Show 2 have revealed that Sidhu along with his wife Navjot will not be seen as a judge on the show, but in a guest role. He will also be joined by Harbhajan and his wife, actress Geeta Basra, who will add an exciting twist to the upcoming episodes with a mix of special guests and entertaining interactions.
